GPS SurveyG J Brookes Ltd. have invested in the
Leica Smartnet GPS equipment which gives
immediate real time co-ordinates by utilising the ordnance
survey active GPS Network.
How it works
Each
GPS satellite transmits data that indicates its location and the
current time. All GPS satellites synchronize operations so that
these repeating signals are transmitted at the same instant. The
signals moving at the speed of light arrive at a GPS receiver at
slightly different times because some satellites are further
away than others. The distance to the satellite can be
determined by estimating the amount of time it takes for their
signals to reach the receiver. When the receiver estimates the
distance to at least four GPS Satellites it can calculate its
position in three dimensions.
Smartnet
Lieca
Geosystems smartnet service is a live and available as a
broadcast correction service to subscribers via GSM or GPRS
technology in Great Britain The service is a
partnership between leica geosystems and ordnance survey
GNSS
The
international GNSS service (IGS) formerly the International GPS
service is a voluntary federation of more than 200 worldwide
agencies that pool resources and permanent GPS & GLONASS station
data to generate precise GPS & GLONASS products The IGS is
committed to provide the highest quality data and product as the
standard for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in
support of earth science research multidisciplinary application
and education Currently the IGS includes two GNSS, GPS and
Russian GLONASS and intend to incorporate future GNSS. You can
think of the IGS as as the highest precision international
civilian community.
